Getting into an Eco-friendly Lifestyle
Saying yes to Eco-friendly products and an Eco-friendly lifestyle may not be easy. Here are some ways to help us shift into an Eco-friendly lifestyle.
Bring Reusable Bags
When going to groceries, as we pay at the counters, the staff may ask if we prefer putting our groceries in plastic bags or paper. In some countries, they don’t even have the option but to put their purchases into a plastic bag. Whatever it is that they, we can only help reduce the use of plastics by recycling our eco-friendly reusable bags. It’s never too late to do a guilt-free purchase.
Get Bamboo Toothbrushes
In case you do not know, most plastic toothbrushes are made from polypropylene plastic and nylon - sourced from non-renewable fossil fuel. Imagine the billions of toothbrushes dumped every year, sitting around 1000 years before finally breaking down. That simply means that our first-ever toothbrush is still somewhere, creating pollution to our dear planet. On the brighter side, it is never too late to jump into an eco-friendly alternative.
Shop at Farmers Markets
When we go to groceries, most fruits and vegetables are already wrapped in plastics. We can’t demand to have those that are not yet wrapped. Where could we freely do it without a hassle? Shopping at farmer’s markets pushes you to bring your bag where you can put all your fresh, tasty, and healthy purchases. Also, through this, we are helping our local farmers and small establishments.
Refuse Plastic Freebies
Who would not love freebies? We all want freebies! If we are going to be in a situation where we are offered a freebie but the product or the packaging is made out of plastic, we must think twice! It’s hard to say “no” especially when it finally costs us nothing. I guess there has to be a moment when we need to think twice before saying “yes” to free offers. By putting so much intentionality into living an eco-friendly life, refusing plastic freebies means making a difference in taking care of our environment.
Support Plastic-free Brands
A lot of small and big businesses right now are becoming very supportive in using and selling plastic-free products. From single-use plastic containers, they are now using paper or Eco-bags for every purchase. People are now extracting their creative juices and becoming so competitive in conceptualizing their Eco-friendly packaging, knowing that packing brings the first impression to the consumers. Markets are also encouraging customers to bring their baskets or reusable bags for their goods. Because of this movement, native products are now getting more in demand and are shipped all over the world. This has inspired a lot of craftsmen and environmentalists to pursue their passion and advocacy to help save our dear planet from too much pollution. So before we do the purchase, let’s spend time finding companies or businesses that sell eco-friendly products which we know are also toxic-free.
Through this, we are helping plastic-free brands to rise in the market. We may not have the ways to resolve the dumped products from thousands of years ago, we sure have the chance to make a change. Becoming mindful of our choices may seem small and meaningless but it does bring great impact for the years to come. Allow the next generation to thank you for saying yes to an eco-friendly lifestyle.
